NEW TO HEARTLAND
RODEO?

YOU FOUND THE RIGHT PLACE
Whether you've been rodeoing your whole life or you're just getting started, Heartland Rodeo Association is one of the most welcoming places in Manitoba to compete. We've been at it since 1995 — and we've seen plenty of folks show up not knowing a soul and leave with a whole community.
This page tells you exactly what you need to do to get in the arena.
1.
First, Know Your Options
There are two ways to compete at a Heartland Rodeo:
Option 1 — Hometown (Try It Out)
Not ready to commit to a full membership? No problem. You can try out one HRA rodeo per season as a Hometown contestant. You'll pay an insurance fee, sign a waiver at the rodeo office, and you're in. Simple as that. Hometown points don't count toward year-end standings or finals — but it's a great way to see if HRA is the right fit for you.
Option 2 — Full Membership
Ready to compete for standings and qualify for finals? A full membership is what you want. Members compete in all major events, build points all season, and are eligible for the HRA Finals. Membership must be purchased at least one week before entries open for your first rodeo.
MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS
Second, choose a membership option that fits you and purchase it before the rodeo:
Title | Image | Description | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
Non-Contestant | Supporters of Rodeo | $50 + tax | |
Family | 2 Senior + 2 Junior or 2 Pee Wee | $300 - $350 + tax | |
Jack Benny | Ages 49 and up | $150 + tax | |
Pee Wee | 10 and under (barrels only) | $20 + tax | |
Junior | 16 and under (as of Jan 1) | $100 + tax | |
Senior | Adults 17–48 | $150 + tax |
Heads up: All memberships include a $100 mandatory fundraising fee (or $200 for family memberships). HRA provides raffle tickets you can sell to earn it back.
Junior members under 18 need both parents or guardians to sign the application and release form.
3.
Enter the Rodeo
Once your membership is sorted, enter your event(s) through the ACE (All Central Entry) system — all HRA entries go through ACE.
Entry fees apply. Pay attention to the entry deadline for your rodeo — late entries aren't guaranteed.
What to know:
-
Current members get priority. Hometown entries fill open spots.
-
Entry covers you for the rodeo performance. Slack may vary — check with the rodeo office.
4.
Sign the waiver
Show up to the rodeo and head straight to the rodeo office before you compete. You'll sign a waiver there — it's quick and it's required before you can get in the arena. This is only for the first rodeo of the season.
If you're under 18, both parents or guardians need to have signed your application and release form. Get that sorted ahead of time so there are no surprises on rodeo day.
That's it. Four steps and you're competing.
